Who we are.

In scripture, the Church is likened to the role of a lampstand.

(Ephesians 5:8, Revelation 1:12-20, Matthew 5:14-16)

Lampstands are crafted to magnify the light that sits atop it.

The light of Christ, shone through the good news of the gospel, illuminates the path to enter the house of God safely where life and salvation are found.

“Lampstand Gospel” highlights our purpose as a local church to…

“Display the Light of Christ, for the Glory of God, and the Good of All.”

We do this in word and deed through our Core Values.

Why a “Lampstand?”

Core Values

Our core values are crafted to tether our collective hearts and minds to the gospel of Jesus Christ in active and faithful obedience to Him and His mission.

These core values stem from and proceed out of a commitment to Gospel-Centrality in all that we believe, think, and do.

  • We believe that the supremacy, beauty, and radiance of Jesus Christ outshines and outweighs all else throughout eternity.

Therefore, we believe that it is the highest privilege of His church to continually behold Jesus in all of His splendor and glory. This “beholding” entails engaging the heart, soul, mind, and strength to fixate on Jesus continually through Scripture reading, devoted prayer, and meditation on His perfect love made visible through His perfect life, sacrificial death and victorious resurrection.

    [Hebrews 12:1-2; Philippians 3:7-11; John 1:29; 19:5; Revelation 19:11-13; 5:2-6; Matthew 13:44-46]

  • We believe in relevant expository teaching and preaching that faithfully interprets and applies the truth of every passage in light of the central message of Scripture, namely, the atoning, redeeming work of the person of Jesus Christ, in whom all of God’s promises to His people are fulfilled.

All of Scripture points to and exalts Jesus Christ as the Savior of sinners who empowers His church to live for His glory and renown through the transformational power and love of the gospel.

    [1 Corinthians 2:1-5; Luke 24:27; Colossians 1:24-29; Galatians 6:14; 2 Corinthians 1:19-20; Hebrews 1:1-3; Isaiah 55:10-11; 1 Timothy 4:13-16; 2 Timothy 3:16-4:5]

  • We believe that all followers of Christ ought to grow in their holiness in the context of the local church.

All born-again believers are disciples of Jesus Christ, lovingly obligated to humbly obey and follow His commands, pursuing selflessness, service, denial of the flesh, and maturity in life and godliness. Motivated by grace, it is the duty of all disciples to devote themselves to the renewing of the mind in truth, being progressively transformed into the likeness of Christ in heart, soul, and mind by the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit.

    [Philippians 2:3-5; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Romans 12:1-2; Colossians 1:28-29; Matthew 22:37-40; 28:18-20]

  • We believe that God intends His people to live in devoted community and intimate connection with one another.

As the church, every member is united together through one common faith into the collective body of Christ. As such, the church is a covenant people that embraces a responsibility and commitment to submit to one another, be accountable to one another, serve one another, and be dependent on one another in grace and in love. As a covenant people, we also commit to upholding and regularly partaking of the church ordinances, Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

    [Acts 2:41-47; 10:47-48; Matthew 18:15-19; 1 Corinthians 5:12-13; 12:12-26; Ephesians 4:15-16; Hebrews 3:12-13; 10:23-25]

  • We believe that worship is our response to who God is, what he has done, and what he will do, all of which are most gloriously revealed to us through the gospel.

As those who have received regenerated hearts through God's saving grace, we joyfully worship the Lord “in spirit and truth.” That is, in response to the true revelation of God, we respond genuinely to Him by exhibiting Christ-exalting, Spirit-empowered adoration, exaltation, submission, and thanksgiving. Such worship includes our thoughts, words, affections, and actions as we respond to the revelation of the saving God through Jesus Christ in every area of our lives.

    [John 4:23-24; Is. 6:1-8; Psalms 145; Romans 12:1; Colossians 3:14-17; Exodus 15:1-3; Hebrews 13:15-16; Psalms 95:1-6; 150; Revelation 5:8-10]

  • We believe that every believer is an ambassador of the gospel message of reconciliation between God and man.

Internally, have a collective gospel witness to the world around us simply by the way we love one another and model grace-filled community. Externally, we have an obligation to saturate our surrounding communities with the light of the gospel message by living with and among our neighbors. With hearts of hospitality and service we will eagerly love the lost and offer hope by sharing the good news of the gospel. It is the role of every believer to create gospel bridges of relationship where we live, where we work, where we play, and everywhere.

    [Matthew 5:14; 10:5-13; John 13:35; Acts 28:30-31; Matthew 9:36-38; Luke 19:10; 1 Corinthians 9:19-23; 2 Corinthians 5:16-20; Zechariah 8:23]

  • We believe that the local church is God’s primary instrument in accomplishing the spread of the gospel throughout all places.

"All places" entails reaching the local city of Spokane, the greater Pacific Northwest region, and global distant cultures, peoples, and nations with the light of the gospel. This is achieved through equipping, sending, and supporting church planters and missionaries as well as engaging in local gospel partnerships with other like-minded and like-motivated churches.

    [Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; 13:2-3; Romans 10:13-15; Psalms 96:1-3; Isaiah 52:7]

Our doctrinal confession informs us of what we believe. Our church covenant informs us of how we will live that belief out in a local Church.
